IELC’s Teachers

IELC employs a talented team of qualified native-speaker and non-native speaker teachers who combine IELC’s wealth of resource materials with innovative teaching methods to provide students with the highest quality of language tuition available in the region.

Students are given opportunities to practice and produce the skills presented in class. Feedback on student performance is given to ensure that the student’s language and communication skills are constantly developing. IELC’s teachers are committed to providing students with the individual care and attention that they need to become competent, confident speakers of English.

Harum graduated from the Faculty of English Letters at Sanata Dharma University in Jogja with a Degree in English Language and Literature. She spent many years in Jakarta teaching English at various language schools and lecturing in the English literature faculty at BINUS university. Harum joined IELC in 2006 and has helped thousands of students to excel in the IELTS and TOEFL exams. She teaches all levels and also designs IELC’s merchandise.

Toby is from Bridgwater, Somerset in the UK. He taught for 3 years at English Academies in South Korea. Toby has a Bachelors degree in Forensic and Crime Scene Science from Bournemouth University. Over the past few years he has traveled around Southern Africa, Australia and East Asia.

“I love to travel and to teach, I am looking forward to seeing what the beautiful islands of Indonesia have to offer.”

Daniel is from Solo. He has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from STBA Lia in Jogja. In 2008, Daniel moved to Exeter in the UK where he studied advanced English for one year. He is currently completing his Masters Degree in Translation at UNS Sebelas Maret University. Before joining IELC in 2014, Daniel taught at the UNS Sebelas Maret language center.

Ligar was born in Salatiga. He attended Satya Wacana University and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in English Language and Literature. He taught English at Kota Bahasa in Salatiga before moving to Solo in 2014 to work with IELC.

Having grown up on the border of English and French Canada, language learning has been a constant in Trevor’s life. Having had his formal education in an immersion setting, Trevor understands the importance of utilizing only one language in class, in this case English! . Trevor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from McGill University. Trevor has had a desire to teach English since his late teens.

Christian is originally from Pekalongan. He has a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Satya Wacana Christian University where he graduated Cum Laude. Before joining IELC in 2014, Christian taught English at the Bina Bangsa Semarang International School.

“Teaching is my passion and I love it. My personal motto is ‘work hard and play hard! Do the best and God will do the rest’, that’s what I believe. I’m a newcomer to Solo but I am starting to feel at home here – Solo is a great city.”

Albert had a memorable childhood in Salatiga. He moved to Solo in 2003 and enrolled at Sebelas Maret University to study English Literature. While studying at university, he also worked part-time as an English teacher, liaison officer, radio announcer, and master of ceremony. In 2010, Albert graduated from university with a Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Translation Studies. Then, in 2011, he decided to go back to the campus to pursue his Master’s Degree at UNS Postgraduate Program.

Erlysa joined IELC in 2016. Teaching has always been her passion since she was in high school. She didn’t realize it until she actually joined the teaching world. Despite being a computer science graduate, her professional experiences were mainly from teaching English. Before joining IELC, she worked in Jakarta as a language trainer focusing mainly on Business English for specific purposes. Thus, she dealt with students from various backgrounds and she learned how to customize her approach.

“Moving to teach in Solo has been a big step for me and I am enjoying every step of it. At IELC, I get to meet students from various ages and it makes teaching even more fun!”

My name is Shabrina but my nickname is Bina. I was born and grew up in Tulungagung. I lived in Malang while studying English literature at Brawijaya University and I continued my studies at UGM in 2012. I taught the International Program at Universitas Islam Indonesia. The love of my life led me to Solo and my love of teaching led me to IELC. I love writing and you can visit my blog at, just random writings but I hope they are enjoyable to read.

Hi, my name is Maya. I love learning English and making friends. I graduated from the English Department of Satya Wacana Christian University in 2012 and I taught English back in my hometown Salatiga. For me, teaching is a joy because I can make new friends and share fascinating insights with my students in class. I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue my master’s degree in the US. I also completed a TESOL (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages) certification while there. Hi! My name is Prilia Nareswari. I graduated from GBSC, a private college in the US, with a BA in Integrative Studies (Intercultural Studies and Counseling). I also completed an online TEFL certification while I was there. I love learning foreign languages, especially English. Hello everyone! My name is Anas and I am from Semarang. I earned both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics from Diponegoro University, thanks to the Fast Track scholarship program from Dikti. My choice of becoming a teacher was inspired by one of my professors. I find teaching very rewarding and it pleases me when my students becoming more confident. I like watching movies and playing video games and believe it or not, that’s what made me love learning English in the first place. Since I was in high school I have wanted to become an English teacher and thanks to IELC, it has become reality.

Hi my name’s Jake and I grew up in Hertfordshire, England (it’s close to London). I moved to the Netherlands in 2014 where I got my degree in International Studies majoring in South East Asia area studies with Indonesian language. During my bachelors, I decided to use my savings to get my teacher training (CELTA) in Highgate, London. Shortly after I found work teaching adults in the Netherlands, and I realised quickly that teaching English is a great way to branch out, learn about different cultures and meet new and interesting people from all walks of life. In my free time I love exploring new places, cooking, listening to music and reading. Ihave also played the drumsfor over 15 years and I hope to find a band in Solo.

A love for teaching and a passion for travelling has brought Nick to Solo. Growing up in Canada with Portuguese and Indian ethnicity means his mentality is a mix of East & West. Nick holds a Diploma in Marketing and another in Bussiness Administration. Nick’s work background consists mostly of sales, however he also has experience in private tutoring, summer camps as well as editing for an Australian magazine. Nick visited over 20 countries and will continue to travel in his free time.

Hello! My name is Yuni and I am from Surabaya, East Java. I have a degree in English Education from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Jember University. I taught for more than 5 years at a private school in Surabaya. I love writing and teaching young learners. I have been writing journals for 18 years. I also love giving students creative writing tips. I have even helped my students publish their stories in school magazines. I am happiest when students learn English. See you in class!
